Since it's inception in 2006, our Anya's Kids program has supported over 30 women in Batey 1, offering nutritional supplementation, education and social support during pregnancy and through six months postpartum. As a result babies born to mothers in Batey 1 are healthier and better equipped to face the challenges of their lives in the Southwest of the DR. The photo above from January 2007 shows women attending an education and peer support session. Group meetings are held in Batey 1 once a month and women receive supplies such as diapers when they attend.
